Çağatay Bircan
Entrepreneurial finance, banking, and organisational economics.
Çağatay Bircan is Lead Research Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he conducts academic research and contributes regularly to the EBRD's flagship Transition Report and supports the Bank's banking and policy teams. He is also an Industrial Professor at UCL's Institute of Finance & Technology, teaching valuation methods in private equity and venture capital. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan.

- Drafted and presented annual updates on the Bank's transition impact and financial performance of its equity portfolio to the Board
- Led the Bank's involvement in the Competitiveness Network
- Contributed to the Bank's approach paper on “Digital” (a core theme of the Strategic Capital Framework 2021–25)
- Designed macro-based investment strategies in fixed income
- Maintained and updated daily FX strategy documents
- Regularly contributed to economics pieces and macroeconomic forecasting
